"Rehearsal for Murder" the comedy whodunnit, originally written by Gordon Clarkson as part of the summer season programme at Margate's Theatre Royal in 1999, has had a "facelift" ready for the first appearance of a revival of this popular play ! The whole script has been updated and revised, and a completely new ending written, keeping the audience guessing right until the final curtain !
The comedy is still there, and the show guarentee's to have laughter, mixed with suspense.
The play is set in the present day, and revolves around rehearsals for the forthcoming play in a current "Rep" season being presented at a small theatre in the fictional town of Eastcliffe on Sea. A lottery winner has decided to use his fortune to re-create weekly "Rep".
The motley crew of actors have their own insecurities, and emotions are running high. It is mid season, and business is bad.
Are rehearsals for the next play in the season : "Murder on the Farm"; in fact; "A Rehearsal for Murder" ?
Gordon directs a talented company (in order of appearance); Luke Cornwell as "Daz" Stephens, Anthea Preston as Helen "Tiggy" Winston, Joy Clarkson as Liz White, Mandy Simmons as Fran Harris, Peter Such as Augustus Trimble, Frank Tucker as Charlie Hyams, Moira Pearn as Edna Fairbrass, Linda West as Stephanie Williams, and Michael Flagg as Detective Inspector Paul Fletcher.
The play appears for two performances only at Birchington Village Centre, CT7 9EG , on Saturday 3rd October at 7.30pm, and Sunday 4th at 2.30pm. Ticket prices are £10.00 ( concessions £8.00 )
