Cream Tea Socials
The popularity of "Gordon Clarkson's One Man Show ; "The Golden Hour of Entertainment" when it is presented in residential homes and day centres, has prompted this new afternoon event; combining an opportunity for people who prefer not to go out at night to get together, socialise, enjoy a cream tea, and watch, and join in with, "THE GOLDEN HOUR OF ENTERTAINMENT" all for only £8.00 !
The event is open to anyone, and will take place at a series of village or church hall locations starting in September 2008. If successful, a longer 'run' will be planned for Spring 2009.
The doors open at 2pm, and the entertainment begins at 2.45pm ; Over 36 songs selected either for their 'Singalong" suitability; or to trigger specific memories; During the presentation, Gordon reminisces about his years in the theatre, and includes jokes and humourous anecdotes.
Themed medleys include "Flanagan and Allen" , and "Minstrel" songs; a "Moon" song set, and lots more, up to the finale: taking the audience on a trip to "Dear Old London Town"! All these items have different changes of costume; to fit in with our promise with "The Golden Hour of Entertainment " to 'bring theatre to you! '
Once the entertainment has finished , at 3.45pm, the "Cream Tea" is served; comprising Scone, Butter, Jam, Cream, Biscuits; and Tea or Coffee, and with unlimited free refills of your choice of beverage ; we guarantee value for money !
